Each year, Preservation Action hosts in conjunction with the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) a three-day program in Washington D.C. consisting of annual meetings, legislative briefings, advocacy training, and coordinated visits to the Congressional offices.

Advocacy-Week-300x225National Alliance of Preservation Commissions partners with Preservation Action and NCSHPO on this event to make sure a broad population of preservationists is ready to communicate our message to their elected officials.  NAPC also holds a Board of Directors meeting as part of the event.

With partisan gridlock becoming the norm, and the nation’s economy still struggling, it is more important than ever that we communicate the economic development and job creation power of historic preservation.  As programs are scrutinized for spending cuts we must make the case that protecting our national heritage, as well as investing in it, continues to make sense!
